Are you the type of person who starts every year saying "New year, New me"?
Don't start this new year that way! Instead why not say "New year, New habits!"
It only takes an average of 66 days to form a habit. What are the habits you are going to implement with your little ones?
Our list includes:
- Dreaming big:
We will go dream building as often as we can! we want to build our children up, let them try new things, encourage them to dream big! if they want to be a whale trainer, what are things you could do to facilitate that? You could put your adventurous 4 year old in swim lesson and make they know that there are goals they will have to work towards to accomplish that. - Do it now mentality:
We will switch the mindset of everyone in the house as to not procrastinate. I know you're tired, but you'll feel so much better later if you just get those tasks done now. Yes rest is important, but relaxation is much easier when you aren't thinking about all the things you still have to get done. Teach your kids this early as it'll make their lives so much easier in the long run! - Bedtime routine:
We've been slow out of the gate when it comes to this one in our household. We've decided this will include an immunity booster and reading while the kids lay in bed and listen until they fall asleep. I had read that even if your kids can't read for themselves yet that it's great for their brains to listen to chapter books without pictures to focus on details and help their imaginations. We are reading the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. It's wonderful so far! - Be active EVERY DAY:
It's very important, especially in the cold weather, to get as active as possible every day. If we can't go play at the park we will go out and support one of the many awesome local businesses. Such as Monkey Bizness, Integrated Self Defense, Westin Dance Works, The Playful Palette Co., and Altitude Movement. - Words of affirmation:
Every morning we will look into the mirror and say only good and kind words to ourselves and each other! The kids love it when they come up with their own as well, most of them they need ideas for though.
We start with:
~ I am brave.
~ I am kind.
~ I am intelligent.
~ I am so loved.
They add whatever else they'd like to within reason, when it starts getting too silly we redirect.
