I did this with my family last year for Halloween. We used pumpkin and bat cookie cutters.
My husband was so patient with my toddlers as I worked on prepping the toppings, and the meat while they cute out the tortillas together.
This would also be a great birthday or holiday party idea.
All you have to do is get a plate for each or your kids, a cookie cutter, and some tortillas.
If they are younger they may need help pushing the cutters hard enough.
Once the tortillas are cut into the preferred shapes, fry them in the oil.
When they turn golden brown and crunchie make sure to lay them out on a paper towel lined baking sheet to get off the excess oil and make them more crisp.
Make the meat as you would normally for tacos.
Cook it in a sauté pan with taco seasoning, chopped onion and garlic.
I tend to use extremely lean meat so it doesn't need drained, If you use meat with more fat in it you'll need to strain it before you put in the seasonings.
Chop up the topping.
Lay out parchment paper on your dining table.
Now here comes the fun part! Add the special chips in the middle of the table and add all the toppings in whichever order you'd like.
Soak up all these core memories with your family while your kids are still young. They will appreciate the effort and bonding for life!
