Graeme's family
I love running contests with Macaroni KID, and if you are one of my Subscribers, you know that I do A LOT of them! I find running contests can be a thrilling and engaging experience, but the real magic often happens when you get to meet the winners in person. It adds a human touch to the whole process and turns it into a memorable and heartwarming experience.
Meeting the winners allows you to witness firsthand the genuine joy and excitement that your contest has brought into their lives. Their smiles, their gratitude, and their stories can be incredibly moving. You can see how much the prize means to them and how it has made a positive impact. This contest with topped them off and took the winning experience to a new level for me!! I don't usually write an article about my winners, or even get the opportunity, but this contest gave the the chance to do both and it is truly a heartwarming experience that I didn't want to pass up!
Athena Graeme's family had a story that was nothing short of extraordinary. Their life was a tapestry of adventure, service, and boundless love.
Athena, her husband, and their daughter, who they lovingly adopted six years ago while stationed in Timor-Leste, were a tight-knit family that thrived on making the most out of every moment they had together. They were military personnel, serving their country overseas, but their hearts always gravitated towards home, towards those cherished days spent in the heart of America.
Every year, with the precious month they had back home, they embarked on a mission to create unforgettable memories. They were no strangers to adventure, having explored national parks Griswold-style, traversing the country in a campervan. They had even taken a family horseback riding trip through the breathtaking Monument Valley. But this time, they were searching for something different, something that would make their daughter's heart race with excitement.
Their daughter had always dreamt of soaring through the skies, of experiencing the exhilaration of skydiving. However, as a parent, Athena couldn't fathom allowing her only child to leap out of an airplane. That's when fate stepped in, and the contest presented itself. It was the perfect solution, a chance for their daughter to experience the thrill of flying without the risks.
Amidst their military postings, from one corner of the world to another, their daughter remained remarkably brave. No matter where they found themselves, she embraced each new adventure with open arms, packing her bag and exclaiming, "Let's Go!" Her spirit and resilience were a testament to the incredible upbringing she had received from Athena and her husband.
The family's time in Moldova, next door to Ukraine, presented its own set of challenges and uncertainties. But amidst it all, they held onto the excitement of the upcoming experience.
The end of their tour, coinciding with the school year's conclusion, would mark the beginning of a new adventure.
Athena's gratitude was evident in every word she shared. For them, these moments of joy and connection were more than just experiences; they were lifelines connecting their daughter to her home, her roots, and a sense of belonging. These adventures transcended geographical boundaries, making their "third-culture kid" feel grounded in her identity.
Athena knew that these moments were the threads that wove the tapestry of their family's life. The contest had become more than a chance to experience adrenaline and excitement; it was a symbol of love, family, and the incredible journey they were on together. And as they looked forward to their adventure, Athena's family was a shining example of resilience, love, and the power of shared experiences to bind a family together, no matter where in the world they found themselves.
I would like to thank for allowing me the opportunity to work with them in doing this contest and to the Graeme's family for sending me this amazing story and giving me permission to share it with the community!! I can't wait until you get back to see the pictures of your experience!
